During the holiday season, there is much to do to help our urban families at this special time of year. Help us by preparing a Holiday Food Basket or Adopting a Family for Christmas . . . .
We distribute Holiday Food Baskets to families we regularly serve. We've distributed as many as 142 food baskets one Christmas! Volunteers put together a basket (or a box or laundry basket works fine too) filled with food to serve a holiday meal to a family of 4. Additional non-perishable food staples are added to top off the basket. Volunteers or UFM staff will personally deliver the baskets the Saturday before Christmas.
As a donor, you can prepare and donate a completed basket. As a volunteer, you can organize a food drive at your local church, class or workplace. Maybe your group would like to deliver them as well?
We have an Adopt-A-Family-for-Christmas program for families we regularly serve. As a donor, you may adopt one of our families by purchasing a gift (or gifts) for each child in that family (children ages infant through high school). This project is ideal for a business, group, class or even a family to do together.
