If you want to feed fish, then go where the fish are. That’s the thinking behind the Public School outreach. Urban Family Ministries has developed a network of volunteers that work directly with teachers and urban school children.
As a volunteer, you can help by assisting a teacher in the classroom, by listening to a child read, working one-on-one with a student in math or spelling, reading a story to a classroom that instills positive character traits through a Character Counts reading program, helping with RIF (Reading is Fundamental), or joining a class on a field trip. We also assist two urban schools with special events, such as a harvest party and holiday activities, like Santa's Secret Workshop.
