Super Saturday

What started out as a regular habit of bringing a few kids to church on Saturday night, has turned into one of the liveliest “churches” in West Michigan: Super Saturday.  Using five 15-passenger vans and a school bus, Urban Family Ministries buses 175+ pre-school, elementary and teenage children to a local church gymnasium every Saturday night for worship, Bible teaching, songs, games and a meal.  The children learn scripture through a weekly memorization program, they participate in the worship service, and learn what it means to serve each other.

During the summer months, Super Saturday switches to "Wild Wednesday". . . .same programming, different night.  This gives our volunteers their summer weekends free.

There are many way you can help. . . .

As a volunteer, you can be a greeter as the kids arrive, help at the attendance table, listen to the children recite their verse, help with transportation (drive a 15-passenger van or ride along as "co-pilot"), or sit with the kids in the bleachers during song time and the Bible lesson.  (You can be a calming influence if a child happens to get restless.)  Your time commitment would be about 2 1/2 hours each Saturday evening.  Super Saturday is a wonderful way for volunteers to get to know the kids and a good starting point to see if you would like to become more involved in the overall ministry of UFM.  You can help one or two Saturdays each month, or more often as your schedule allows.  Or you can help with food pick up, preparation or delivery.

As a donor, you can sponsor a meal....once a month, once every other month, once a year or as often as you like.   Contact us for details.

The task of reaching the children and families of the inner-city for Jesus is too big for only a handful of people. That's why God gave us each other. Many faithful partners work with us to see the Lord's mission at Urban Family Ministries come to reality.  Won't you join us?
